Weathering Steel

Weathering steel is also known as atmospheric corrosion resistant steel. It is commonly used in structural applications which are exposed to atmospheric elements as it is inexpensive and highly effective. A layer of rust – formed by oxidisation of the steel with pollutants – forms and acts as a protective layer, protecting the steel from corroding.

Weathering steel is a highly effective and usable material that can be used for many different applications from major bridge work to outdoor sculptures!

Offering a high strength, low alloy weldable structural steel with fantastic corrosion resistance. By design the components of the steel allow for the creation of a patina or "rusty"  layer that effectively forms a protective layer to the structure.

The patina layer not only protects against corrosion, but also delivers a unique finish that offers a very affective finish and it’s proven to be more environmentally friendly compared to traditional steel.

We offer a wide range of stock with thicknesses starting from 0.8mm through to 40mm.
